Hello there.  My name is Lisa Ellerton, and I am an experienced counsellor based in Aberdeen.

PGDip, MA (Hons), MBACP, MBPS.

If you are needing a confidential space to explore and understand what you are going through, I am here to help.

I offer ‘one to one’ counselling for young people and adults, as well as couple's counselling. We have the choice of meeting at my counselling space, which is based in Aberdeen, or we can meet online or by telephone, whichever feels best for you.

My work is grounded in a person-centred, non-directive approach, and I value your autonomy. While our work together is primarily led by you, I may bring in other therapeutic interactions, such as offering gentle guidance or psychoeducation if it feels supportive, appropriate and useful for you.

You don't have to face this alone.

What to Expect

I will support you in a warm, friendly and genuine therapeutic space where you can be yourself. Together, we will explore your worries, at your pace.  If you are struggling to come to terms with loss or change in your life, or you have been through upsetting or traumatic experiences, the feelings of anxiety or depression can be overwhelming.

Everyone’s needs are unique, so I offer both short-term supports to focus on a specific issue and longer-term therapy for deeper exploration of what may feel like more complex issues.  You are the expert of your experiences, and I will offer my knowledge and therapeutic experience to collaborate with you, and find the support that feels right for you.

We will regularly review our work together to reflect on how you are experiencing the sessions, and to make sure the pace and depth continue to feel right for you.

What sessions look like

Open-ended therapy with regular reflection, always at your pace. We will regularly review our work together to reflect on how you are experiencing the sessions, and to make sure the pace and depth continues to feel right for you.

Introduction Session

I offer an initial 20-minute consultation, free of charge, where I can tell you a little bit more about what counselling may feel like, and an opportunity for you to ask questions. Therapy is such a personal, individual experience, and the therapeutic relationship has to feel trusted and right for the individual, or couple. This is an opportunity for you to consider and reflect if you feel comfortable working with me, with no expectation from myself.

Individual Counselling

In individual counselling, the focus is on you; your experiences, feelings, and inner world. It provides a private, supportive environment to explore your difficulties and develop greater awareness.

Couple's Counselling

Couple's Counselling offers a supportive space for two people to explore their relationship together. The focus is on understanding patterns of communication, emotional experiences and the impact you have on one another, rather than placing blame or taking sides. Sessions aim to help each person feel heard, understood and able to reflect on both their own needs and the relationship as a whole.

Clients thoughts

Counselling is one of best things I decided to do. I reached out to Lisa at a time in my life when I was struggling to make sense of things that had happened in my life. Lisa provided a confidential space and the time I needed, to process how I was feeling and help me understand. She was genuinely supportive and easy to talk to. I couldn't recommend her highly enough and I will always be grateful for our space.

I came to work with Lisa during a particularly difficult period in my life. From the very beginning she created a calm, supportive space where I felt genuinely heard, understood, and never judged.

Lisa’s support during this time was invaluable, she helped me make sense of what I was experiencing and guided me through it with clarity, compassion, and steadiness.
What I valued most was the human quality of our conversations. Sessions never felt clinical or rushed; they felt like a warm, grounded space where I could be myself, reflect openly, and rebuild at my own pace. I still find myself reflecting on things we discussed, which shows how lasting the impact of our work together has been. I’m very grateful for the support she offered me.

Lisa is really easy to talk to and creates a warm, welcoming space, both physically and mentally. During our time together I felt like I could discuss anything I needed to without judgement or pressure.

I'd struggled with self-confidence and body image for a number of years. I was able to reflect with Lisa and work through my anxieties and stresses in a safe and calming environment. The sessions with Lisa helped me build coping mechanisms, and gave me the room to work on myself and my relationship with my confidence, body image and other people.
C.J.
Lisa has an exceptional ability to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and genuinely human. From the start, she helped me feel heard and understood while remaining calm, objective, and grounded. She supported me through some challenging family issues with real insight and compassion, helping me gain clarity and confidence in how to move forward. Our work together enabled me to reach a point where I no longer needed therapy, which I see as a true reflection of her skill. I’m very grateful for the support she provided and would highly recommend her.
